You should have received your mailing of spring/summer seeds at this point. For our new members, yours are being mailed this week!
In your packet you will find a variety of seeds that include variations of the following:

Summer squash
Sweet Bell Peppers
Sugar Baby Watermelon
Zucchini
Cucumber
Cherry Tomatoes
Okra
Mint
Basil
Sunflower
Wildflowers
Louffa (Luffa)
You also received information for planting them including when, how and how to maintain them. Remember when planting sees, either indoors to start early, or direct sowing in the ground, to keep the seeds moistened. Dried out seeds will not produce. Make sure to plant appropriately for temperature. Right now our soil is still very cool, right around 45 degrees. Most of the seeds need it warmer in order to germinate. You also received some markers in order to label what seeds you plant. I'll never forget one year, my grandson who was around 3 at the time removed all of my markers from different tomato seeds I planted. That was a year I had a guess the tomato game going all year as I waited for each plant to produce to figure out what type it was ! Labeling your seeds is important so that you will know what is growing and where to plant it!
The herbs included in your kit can be planted along with your veggies and will act as natural deterrents to pests in the garden as we will discuss some more during our upcoming webinar next Monday. Remember to plant mint in a container because, if allowed to grow free, it will spread everywhere!
Don't be surprised if some of your seeds are slow to germinate and grow initially. Pepper seeds and luffa love it very warm. As soon as that weather warms up you will see them take off germinating and growing!
And just for fun, I included an iron-on sticker that can be put on a t-shirt, cup or other item to show your plant love!
Send me pictures as you start to plant. And remember, if you have any questions as you go through the process email me at joyfulsoulsnursery@gmail.com or send a message through the website.
