Start your potatoes!

Here is a neat way to grow potatoes with few resources and little effort.
Remember, potatoes grow best in layers of dirt. When laying potato starts or potato seedlings, put a few inches of dirt in your container lay the starts on top and cover them with a layer of soil. As they sprout leaves, cover the leaves up with another layer of soil. Continue hilling soil on your plants every time the leaves sprout through until you reach the top of your growing container. Then just let it grow potatoes! Water regularly, but not too much and fertilize regularly with a helping of potash! Potash can be found in most garden stores in the fertilizer section.
This gentleman uses wire fencing and landscape paper to make his own potato tower. He connects a piece of wire fencing end to end to make a cylinder, then lines it with landscape paper. He then puts a few inches of soil in the bottom. He is using potato sprouts that already have leaves. If you are doing that, just create a hole in the landscape paper so that you can place the roots on the soil and the leaves hang outside. If you are using potatoes that have not yet sprouted, plant them in the soil and as they sprout, again create a hole in the landscape paper that you can feed the stems through.
