My garden, in the late fall and early spring, while I think is beautiful can look a bit messy. However, there is purpose to that mess. As my fruit bushes and herbs die back and go dormant many of the seemingly dead limbs are brown and crisp. And I don't cut them back. As spring arrives you start to see the most wonderful things happen as on these dead branches new life grows. Here are pictures of my raspberry and blueberry bushes come back to life and lemon balm and catnip as well as many others do the same thing. So, though you may be tempted to cut back what seems dead leave it be until the spring and watch the miracles happen!

Catmint- great for calming an upset stomach, coming back on the "dead" branches.
